After you leave your employer you may elect to continue to receive coverage in the employer's group plan at your cost for as much as eighteen months. This is an increase form the seventy percent that was deductible in 2002. You can take the self-employed medical insurance reduction even if you don't itemise your tax return. It can usually save you twenty to 40% off your premium by not having this benefit. Loans from a Self employed 401 ( k ) plan are tax free and penalty free so long as they are paid back.
